The Secret To Getting Clients (It’s Easier Than You Think!!)

The Secret To Getting Clients (It’s Easier Than You Think!!)

How do I get more clients?

It’s a question we’ve all asked and we all want the answer to. If we could only figure out this key trick, then our business would be set for life! Clients are arguably the most important part of your business because without them, you can’t pay your bills, make payroll, or grow.

Wanting more clients is not only normal but it’s important, but you have to understand that while there’s no magic trick for getting new clients, there is a secret to it, and that’s this:

Hard, smart work.

That’s right. Growing your client base takes some consistent work, but it’s imperative that the work you put in is smart work or else it will just be a waste of time. The smarter you work, the easier it will be since you’ll start seeing the results you want faster. So if you’re looking for some ideas on smart strategies to employ or what to work hard on, consider the following list.

6 Smart Strategies for Getting New Clients

  • Don’t just wait for referrals. ASK for them! Feeling “pushy” is often one of our least favorite things to do as business owners, but if you think about it, referrals are one of the most obvious ways to get more clients! Word-of-mouth is reliable when coupons and social media posts are often a hit-or-miss market. So instead of waiting for your current, happy clients to talk to their friends, try sending them a pleasant email letting them know that you’re looking for more clients and would greatly appreciate a referral from them. It’s not as pushy as you think it is. BONUS: Offer an incentive for giving a referral. A good discount, free product, etc.
  • Network, network, network! This applies to both online and offline. Instead of sitting behind your computer for weeks on end, plan meetings or attend conferences where your potential clients might also go! Be sure you’re LinkedIn profile is up-to-date with accurate information and recent work samples. Be sure all of your contact information is accurate and keep all your online social media platforms, website, and other profiles active and present with recent works, blog posts, or other helpful information. Meet people online and in person, make connections, and keep talking about your business!
  • Stay personal, stay you. Even if you’re just replying to job postings online, it’s important to remain as personal and true to your brand as possible. You and your business are unique, so it’s important to represent them this way and not let yourself fade in with your competition. But also, every potential client you approach is unique and loves being treated that way. Put effort into understanding each potential client and show them how you can help them.
  • Partner with non-competing firms! Teaming up with other businesses that offer complementary services to the ones you offer gives you a lot of opportunities to take advantage of this synergy. It can be incredibly effective in building your business and client base since both businesses get something positive out of the deal. Not only that, but networking and building strong relationships with other businesses and business owners is incredibly beneficial in the long run.
  • Position yourself as the expert. Potential clients should have a reason to come to you for your services, and one of the first steps to building a loyal customer base is being an authority your desired clients can trust. You should provide value for your clients and have knowledge, experience, and understanding that can benefit them.
  • Start a blog and post regular content. Now, you shouldn’t just start posting random blog posts on your website and hope for the best. You should construct smart, helpful content that your desired client will go to for guidance and inspiration. It should solve a problem for your potential client and also encourage them to reach out to you for your services and business. Make sure to write about what they want to read (further presenting yourself as an expert on the topic) and show them that you and your services are worth considering.

Getting Taken Seriously Online

Getting Taken Seriously Online

***Contributed Post***

Making money online is easier than it’s ever been before. The opportunities are also much more varied. There are people making money from their blogs. Others start their own companies online. Some people earn a little pocket money taking surveys and testing websites. Some work as freelancers, spending their time providing their skills and services to others. Some of these people even employ other staff, giving them the same chances to work online with flexibility. This is fantastic. The world of online business is open to everyone, and it gives people a brand-new way to earn money for themselves. But, it also has its disadvantages.

The wealth of people making money online means that it can be much harder to be taken seriously. You say “blogger” or “online entrepreneur” to some people, and their eyes will roll. They think of all the people that they’ve seen advertising poor products and scams on social media and they fail to realize that there’s a lot more to working online than this. Presenting yourself as a serious business can be the best way to get taken more seriously, helping your business to grow and develop. Here’s how to do it.

Make Sure Your Website Works

Do you ever go on to a website only to click away after a few seconds because it hasn’t loaded? Or, try to shop on a mobile site only to find that the store doesn’t work well on a small screen, and you can’t make your purchase? Don’t let your website be one of these.

See your website as the face of your company. It’s your chance to sell yourself and make a great first impression. But, only if it works well and is easy to use. The first thing that you need to do is audit your site. Check out the test my internet speed page, to make sure your site runs quickly. Then, test it out on a mobile screen to make sure it looks great and works well. Check it for broken links and poor placement, and if you run a store, make sure the checkout process is simple. Then, take a look at your site. Are your fonts easy to read? Are the colors easy to look at? Is it easy to navigate through your menus and sections? Do you have a search box and easy to find social media icons? Go through your website like a customer, making sure it offers a great user experience.

Change Your User Names

Are you still using your Hotmail email address from 2004? Are your social media account names silly? If so, you need to change them. You’ll never get taken seriously with daft usernames and email addresses.

You might want to keep private accounts, as well as business accounts. But, it’s still a good idea to be more professional on your private profiles, as they could get found.

Change Your Profile Pictures

Your profile pictures are a big part of the first impression that you are making online. If you want to be taken seriously, get some professional headshots taken and start using them.

Why you need to plan ahead for marketing success

Why you need to plan ahead for marketing success

We know that one can attain some success by using last-minute marketing campaigns, but we also know that the key to success is… planning ahead.

Look at your marketing strategy more as a marathon instead of a sprint- even in the age of instant information and social media, it takes time to build trust and get noticed by your target audience.

Here are 3 tips to help you during the planning stage of your marketing campaign:

#1 Intentional Strategizing

When you plan ahead, you have time to sit down and decide exactly what you want to achieve and how to do it. This will help you to stay focused and not get sidetracked easily by impulsive ideas. I suggest using a big calendar to put up on your wall where you see it every day, with all events and promotions marked for the coming 6-12 months. This way you can easily get started on projects before deadlines. If you aren’t a fan of wall calendars you can also use a google calendar where you can input your events and promotions and even color code them.

Remember, marketing is never a “one-and-done” proposition. It takes time to get the message out and get people to answer your calls to action. They’ll need to see them in multiple ways. Create a separate plan for each product and marketing channel.

#2 Stay Ahead Of The Competition

You should be looking at your marketing strategy for several months ahead. There are certain times of year that your potential customers are more likely to buy and you can use marketing data to determine these times. Then, you can map out and plan everything in advance. When you enter prepared for a summer sale, Black Friday offer or Christmas product, instead of panicking that you don’t have anything ready and throwing something together, you will cruise in like Santa on his sleigh, with all the hard work behind you. And hopefully the competition as well!

#3 Less Stress & More Success!

I know for some it can be exhilarating to fly by the seat of your pants. But if you want your company to succeed and LAST, you need to be focused on the big picture. Patience and intentional planning will pay off in the end. Dig in your heels and do what it takes to set up your company (and yourself) for long-term success. When you are planning all the projects for a marketing campaign 2-4 months before it launches, you will do it with a level head. If you wait until the week before to throw it together, you will feel stressed, and this will impact not only the quality of work but also your quality of life.

As you can see, learning to plan ahead has many benefits. Even if you are use to doing things last minute or enjoy the pressure of a fast deadline, you can learn to plan in advance and use more of your energy towards the success of the launch.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or you need support for your next big launch, book a discovery call with me. I would be happy to spend some time going over your launch idea to see how I might be able to help ease the stress and improve your success.

Have a great week!

Feeling Lost in Your Biz? How To Know What’s Next

Feeling Lost in Your Biz? How To Know What’s Next

If you’ve been in the entrepreneurial world for awhile, then you know it can be easy to feel a little lost sometimes.

Whether you’ve just sold a business and are wondering what to do next, or you’re neck deep in one of your big ideas, being an entrepreneur is a commitment to walking through unknown territory.

What should we do when we feel lost?

I’ve been running my own business for many years now and here are a few things I’ve learned along the road.

You Are You Even Without A Plan

When you have a plan and a path to walk down, you likely feel more confident and self assured. When you are in the “grey area” of not knowing what’s next, that is when you can feel lost or insecure about who you are. But it is important to remember that regardless of the situation you are standing in, you are still you. Whether you just sold a million dollar business or are staring at bankruptcy, your value and worth as an individual are still the same. You are still you, even when you’re “lost”.

The People Around You Validate Or Invalidate Your Identity

Whether we like it or not, the people we spend the most time with are constantly validating or invalidating our identities. It is important to spend time with people who believe in you, who help you be your best, who push you to higher ground and still think you’re amazing even when you are feeling small and unsure. Do you feel supported, respected and loved by the people you spend time with? Do they help to inspire and uplift you?

Look Back On Times When You Felt Confident, Passionate & With Direction

Take some time to reflect on your past and find time periods where you felt driven, confident, passionate and with direction. The things that were going on are not necessarily important, but I want you to remember how you felt during these times in your life. Why did you feel the way you did? What brought the feelings of fulfillment and drive? How can you step back into that version of yourself?

Who Do You Want To Become?

Focus on who it is you want to become. You’ve likely already been on quite the journey in your life. Who do you want to become now? Rather on focusing on what you want to do (which you may or may not know) focus on WHO you want to BE. Then take the road that will lead you there.

All these steps will help you create a new mental model that will move you forward into the next stage of your business and life.
